The AICREA Scale and Qualitative Analysis on SME Managers

Abstract
This contribution presents a mixed method design combining the AICREA scale — a 10-item Likert instrument measuring AI-related creativity across three dimensions: Fear of Cognitive Risk (resistance to cognitive challenge posed by AI), Imagination (generative and associative thinking), and Complexity of Thought (tolerance for ambiguity anddivergent reasoning), validated on TIM
S.p.A. employees — with semi-structured interviews with 11 SME managers, grounded in Torrance and Guilford’s constructs. Quantitative results show that prior AI use is the strongest predictor of baseline creativity, with an inverse relationship between seniority and AICREA scores. Qualitatively, AI emerges as an enabler of organizational creativity. Both levels converge toward direct training implications for Digital Affective Literacy, restoring to educators their role as conscious mediators between algorithmic heartbeat and the human dimension of learning.
