Educators as Co-Designers of Educational AI Tools<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abstract<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This contribution outlines a conceptual and design-based proposal for educators to participate in the pedagogical design of generative AI while keeping human agency at the center. As custom AI assistants and natural-language design tools becomeincreasingly accessible, educators could guide students through participatory design sessions in which they co-create classroom assistants inspired by philosophical figures such as Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle and use them in engaging classrom sessions led by educators. These assistants would function as pedagogical characters for exploring multiple viewpoints, questioning assumptions, and making the logic, limits, and risks of AI visible. Grounded in Laurillard\u2019sConversational Framework, the proposal frames co-design as an iterative human-led process of dialogue, prompting, testing, feedback, and reflection, positioning educators as AI curators and student guardians who support critical thinking, AI literacy, and ethical responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
